Traditional light cubes have become a distinctive category in spatial lighting thanks to their three-dimensional light and shadow effects, yet their fixed cubic structure has long presented pain points: large space occupation during transportation, high warehousing costs, and difficulty in adapting to the flexible placement needs of different scenarios. To address these industry pain points, we focused on three core goals—drastic volume reduction when folded, stable structure when unfolded, and uncompromised light and shadow effects—and integrated our core lamp body conduction technology with patented folding structure. Through multiple rounds of design, testing and optimization, we achieved a breakthrough for light cubes from static display to dynamic folding.
The core R&D challenge lay in balancing the structural stability of the light cube and the three-dimensional presentation of its lighting effects while implementing the folding function. Our designers drew inspiration from folding chairs, a type of foldable furniture that extensively adopts X-shaped hinged units to achieve lightweight and foldability with stable structure and rapid transformability. We disassembled the light cube into multiple X-shaped hinged grid units, with LED beads positioned at the intersection nodes of each unit. These nodes serve as both structural stress points and light-emitting points, realizing the unification of structure and function. Leveraging the rotatable and retractable characteristics of X-shaped hinges, the entire light cube frame can be compressed from an unfolded three-dimensional form into a flat storage state just like a folding chair. Meanwhile, the light-emitting units move and converge synchronously with the grid without damaging the circuits. The final finished product can be compressed to 1/5 of its original volume or even smaller when folded.

The R&D of this folding structure for light cubes is not merely a form upgrade of a single product, but also a successful exploration of the cross-scenario application of our patented folding structure and core lamp body conduction technology.
