In 2017, we designed these two pendant light models based on the traditional light cube, with the design concept of 'kneading the stars of the night sky into a tangible ring'. The home version for the C-end market is named Starry Donut, conveying a warm and soothing feeling through the well-known imagery of a dessert; the commercial project version for business spaces is dubbed Starry Ring, highlighting its geometric purity and installation-style design.

To achieve the goal of 'lightweight yet sturdy', we conducted extensive research on tensegrity structures. We ultimately selected 304 stainless steel strips of optimal lengths for the main structure, where the tensile forces between joints counterbalance each other. LED beads are embedded in the joints, turning the light-emitting points into stress-bearing points simultaneously. This allows the entire annular structure to maintain a perfect circle without additional support, while also reducing the light’s weight to just 1/5 of a conventional pendant light of the same size, creating a floating effect when hung.

In contrast, the Starry Ring hangs in shopping malls, where its cool white light forms a striking contrast with dark wall surfaces, emerging as the visual anchor of the entire space.
